Photo: Poison Dart Frog (Costa Rica)

Poison Dart Frog | Blue Jeans Frog | Fringe Focus

Saw this little poison dart frog while hiking in Costa Rica. He’s basically the size of your fingernail, and has poison strong enough to kill people. But it’s not really absorbed through the skin, so being near these little guys isn’t dangerous unless you tried to eat it… which I did not. This particular species of dart frog has the nickname ‘Blue Jeans’ because of their blue little legs.

I saw a lot of these dart frogs hopping around when I was in the rainforest. It’s so wet all the time that they can survive pretty much anywhere in the forest, as there’s always water. I’ll be adding more photos and prints to the Costa Rica project page this month.
